I'm SUPER Tired :)

*****This first thing is from an e mail that Abby wrote to her Dad this week.
I loved it and wanted to share it here !

HEY! Guess what I did today???? Look at the picture and guess...

Yep! I de-clogged our sink!!! Aren't you so proud of me? It's been draining really slowly since we got here, and Sister GIbb's one day was like "we need to find someone who can unclog our sink" and I was like "I know how to!" We just haven't had time to do it until today. I felt like a pro :) Haha I had to do it in my dress because we were washing all our other clothes. So thanks for teaching me dad!

For P-day today, we went to the stake center and played volleyball with some of the other elders and sisters. For TWO hours straight pretty much. It was so much fun, but it was exhausting! We came straight to the library to email, so I'm like falling asleep while I write. :)

Oh this week. Let's see....
We had dinner twice this week with a family that isn't members. They were a referral from our bishop.  We went to their house Tuesday for dinner, they mentioned they were looking for a new kitchen table and we said we'd let them know if we heard of someone giving one away. The next day we have dinner at the Martin's (cute family that reminds me of Kelsie and Jeff haha) and they have all these big boxes in their living room. Turns out, they were getting a new kitchen table and trying to figure out what to do with their old one! Crazy right? So they invited us and this other family over for dinner Saturday, so they could look at the table. It was so much fun!

We also did service at a members home (I got to spray all the dandelions! Sister Gibbs took out some tall grass with this saw-like thing. It was pretty cool.) Then that same day, we mowed and fertilized someone's lawn for them! I'm just praying we didn't actually end up killing the grass or something... I guess we'll just have to wait and see! Basically, service is just awesome.

This is us doing service at one of our investigators houses at like 8:30 at night :)
Fun perks of missionary work !

Umm... I don't really know what else. It's weird cause when I wrote Wednesday I felt like I had so much to say, and now I just have no idea! Church was good yesterday. :) We had dinner at our Bishop's house.  ----Oh I know a random thing I can tell you! This week they had Time Out for Women in like Cincinnati or somewhere kind of close. So about 14 sisters from our ward all went. And DAVID ARCHULETA was there. Basically, I need to get a hold of all those sisters and see if they took any pictures with him haha :) Our Bishops wife went and she said it was AMAZING (of course it was, Time Out is ALWAYS amazing!).

I kind of forget sometimes that I'm not the only missionary from Paradise. The other day I was on LDS tools (they have my Ohio ward on there and our home ward) and looked at all the missionaries our ward has! I forgot some of them existed!  It's crazy to think we all came from the same place and are all over the world, having totally different experiences but still learning the same things.

I had a good week, it obviously had its ups and downs, but I still LOVE missionary work and I love being in Ohio. And I love the amazing support system I have.

Well I think that's all for now! Love you all! The church is true!

I'm Still ALIVE !!!!!!!!!!!

Hello everyone! Sister Maughan speaking from the dust ;) Haha it's been an AWESOME week! I seriously just love missionary work more and more ALL THE TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sister Jordan Gibbs and Sister Abby Maughan !

**This was taken at a District meeting.  the elders were taking a picture,
so Abby decided to take a "selfie" of them taking a picture !!!

So first, the reason I didn't write Monday, is because this week is transfers. Which means I'm not the newest newby in the mission anymore!!!! So because it's transfers, p-day is switched to Tuesday. The reason I didn't write Tuesday, is because Sister Gibbs and I switched our p-day to be able to go to the temple today. We're only allowed to go to the temple for ourselves once in April and once in October, every other time it has to be with a recent convert or a less active member. But since we have to get a member to take us to the temple, we are allowed to switch our pday to whatever day works best for them.

So basically today is pday, then it will be back to normal Monday. So really, to make up for hearing from me later this week, you'll get to hear from me sooner next week. Kind of :)

So first, The temple was AMAZING. Like always. I just love the temple. The peace and love you feel there is just indescribable. We are so blessed in Utah to have so many close by! I'm so grateful I took the opportunity, the privilege, to go so often before I came out! We went with Sister Bruening and Sister Mckenzie, both who are not in our actual area but are in our ward. They are so cute and we will love them forever for taking us!

Anyways, quick recap of what happened since I wrote last.
We had exchanges again, this time I stayed in our area and Sister Gibbs went to North Olmstead. It started out as a rough day, because we only had one set appointment, and no other plans. We stopped by a ton of people, and talked to a lot of them for like 2 minutes but that was it. Sister Ingo (the sister I was on exchanges with) and I were just like wandering around trying to figure out what to do! :) We finally stopped by a family that is getting some help from the bishop store house right now and talked to the mom for a good half hour. They aren't members, and they are so nice! Sister Gibbs and I went back to their house yesterday because they invited us over for dinner! It was their way of giving back to the church, since we are helping them. They have two of the coolest cats I have ever met, plus this little baby guinea pig. Everyone in Ohio loves their pets!

Also on exchanges, and again with Sister Gibbs this week, we have been teaching a man named Dennis, who is Muslim. He is HILARIOUS! When we first met him, he told us "I'm Dennis, but not the Menace" so that is his official nickname right now. We meet him at Dunkin Doughnuts, and have some of my favorite conversations with him so far. Mostly we talk about differences and similarities between religions, and they believe a lot of things we do! How he describes it, is that there is just 10% difference of beliefs, the other 90 is all the same. He is super willing to learn, and is really smart! What I love the most is we can joke around with him, and still have really incredible conversations and lessons as well!

Ok this has been not so brief, and I want to have time to respond to some individual emails, so I'll stop for now! But I'll write again Monday :) I think I say this every week, but thank you so much for all your support and love! It really is what gets me through the day sometimes! Snail mail letters are the best (hint hint) cause I can get them anytime! And I actually got a lot of them this week, so keep up the good work haha ;)

LOVE YOU!

Sister Maughan

I love the temple! Ahhh going today made me miss Logan a little. The Colombus temple is just a baby, they don't even have any stairs it's all one floor! It's so cute.  I just realize more and more how blessed I was to live "in the West" with the Saints! :) I'm so grateful we have that opportunity to do saving ordinances for people who didn't get the chance to accept it while they were here on earth. I would be so worried and sad if that wasn't true!

So let me just rant and rave to you today how much I love missionary work, because that's really how I feel right now! I'm SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO thankful to be out here!!!!!!!!! Every day is hard, and there are still some mornings I just cry, but EVERY DAY Heavenly Father reminds me why I'm out here. I'm surrounded by tender mercys.

"Ohio Roller Coaster Ride"

Hello anyone and everyone! This week has been quite the ride (pretty much every week is though. It's basically the coolest, craziest, scariest, MOST FUN roller coaster you could ever ride. Get on :) )

First, I literally have no idea what I told you all last week, so if I repeat myself you can feel free to just deal with it... :)

Second, this Sunday I'll have been gone for TWO MONTHS. It feels like an eternity, and also like it went by SUPER fast. I only have 16 months left!! Where did the time go?

This week was pretty great actually. Tuesday we stopped by our Sassafrass friends, but the mom wasn't home so we came back an hour later. During that hour, we stopped by a lady named Suzette. She has three dogs, and once again we had some divine intervention where she pulled into her driveway RIGHT AFTER we pulled up in front of her house. It is crazy how often that happens. One of the first things she said to us was "You're here AGAIN?" (we've stopped by a few times before but she was either not home or too busy to talk to us." She wasn't really interested at first, but as we talked to her, she really opened up to us. By the end she gave us both a huge hug, and promised to check out the mormon.orgwebsite. It's so awesome to see how Heavenly Father softens hearts, even if it's just little things like that.

We taught our Sassafrass friends about the Plan of Salvation, after a good 30 minute talk on how crazy their life was going. They are so nice though, and still continue to tell us they are going to come to church sometime soon. :)

Another fun thing happened Thursday. We were tracting around an area before our dinner appointment, and I really just felt like we were supposed to be somewhere else. I had a pretty good idea of where we were supposed to be too, but I was too worried it wouldn't work out that I didn't want to tell Sister Gibbs. Long story short, we drove right past the house I thought we should go to, kept driving, and ended up getting stuck in the mud on the side of the road! Haha it wasn't anything too crazy, and HUGE tender mercy a guy with a tow truck just happened to be driving by to pull us out. But I kind of feel like it was Heavenly Father's way of saying "follow the promptings of the spirit!" Who knows what would've happened if we went to that house, maybe they wouldn't have even been home? But by not following it, we ended up somewhere totally unexpected. At least we still made it to our dinner appointment on time! :)

Well that's probably it for this week, though of course there's tons more I could say. Still love all of you, go do something fun this week, and "choose the harder right!"

Love, Sister Maughan

I really LOVE general conference

Wow. This week was a tough one. But looking back, we had SO many miracles occur.
Monday and Tuesday were just ho-hum, nothing too crazy happened. Then Wednesday, all these little tender mercies occurred!

First, Wednesdays are our service days, where we go to the Bishop Store House and help put orders together or whatever else they want us to do. Plus they feed us, which is always a bonus. :) After that, we usually try to find somewhere to study, but for some reason we decided to just contact a few people in Brecksville (that's where the storehouse is) and study at home after. We were trying to figure out who to visit that wouldn't use too many of our miles, since we are only allowed to drive so many miles a month. However, pretty much everyone was far away. Long story short, we just chose one anyways, they ended up being home and we sat on their front porch and talked to them! Funny how small that sounds, but it really doesn't happen very often. He is a less-active member, but loves talking to missionaries and members, and he raises the cutest dogs! They are called Sheba-Enus I think, they kind of look like foxes, and I want one! :) I even got his business card so I can call him one day in the future when I need my own dog! Other tender mercy is there was someone the elders before us were teaching that we've never been able to contact. We decided to stop by her house, just as she was pulling into her driveway! We talked for a few minutes and will be helping her clean our her garage this Saturday. Crazy how timing works out like that.

Then every day in our mission, we have what is called "Finding Time". Basically, we don't schedule any teaching appointments during 5-6:30, and we just go talk to new people about the gospel. Wednesday, we decided to tract a few apartment buildings, and ended up meeting a TON of really humble and fun people who invited us to come back.

Okay, we can move on now. Thursday morning was really rough. I was super stressed and discouraged and just had no idea how this day was going to be any good at all. We had a really important lesson planned for that night, and I just felt like I couldn't do it. Sister Gibbs and I took about an hour at McDonalds to just talk things over while I drank an orange juice. It is crazy how hard Satan works against missionary work in any way he can. But I loved what Elder Holland said in his talk yesterday- if we are just TRYING our very best, God really will bless us, and Satan can't win! I'm so grateful to know that we are on the winning side of this battle!

So yah, it was a good talk. :) The lesson I was so worried about that night was at a member's home. They have a friend who was interested in learning more about our church, and invited us all over for dinner and to talk about it. The best part, was that the members- including their kids- basically just taught the lesson for us, and touched her heart in ways we never could have. I had nothing to worry about. Missionary work seriously is the best when members are involved!

We had some other awesome things happen but I'm going to run out of time! Just know, that missionary work is awesome.

I hope you all watched conference and loved it! I can't believe how powerful ALL the messages were this weekend. I really felt a special spirit this time, whether that's because I'm on a mission or just because it was AMAZING.

So I have a challenge for you all. :) Pick your favorite conference quote or talk... share it on social media or text it to someone and explain why you liked it! Also, send it to me if you want. :)

Love you all and have an incredible week!
